Apartments in Porto Covo: how to choose
Most of what you can book in Porto Covo is apartments and holiday houses, not hotels. What exists, where it is, and what to check before you book.
What there is
The Junta de Freguesia de Porto Covo business directory, counted on 15 August 2026, lists 45 places to stay. 38 of them are apartments, guesthouses and holiday houses, against 3 hotels. Businesses choose whether to be listed, so read that as a floor rather than a total: walk the village and you pass apartments that are not on it.
Pestana Porto Covo Village is not in the directory. By Pestana's own figure it has 174 apartments, and Pestana takes the bookings and checks guests in at its reception.
This page is about renting for a holiday. Apartments for sale in Porto Covo are a different market, and nothing here is about buying.
Where the apartments are
- In the old village. Apartments and guesthouses a few streets from the sea. You walk to the beaches, the harbour and every restaurant.
- In Pestana Porto Covo Village, a short stroll from the village centre, in the words of Pestana's own description.
- In the countryside around the village. The directory lists several montes, farmhouses a few kilometres out. Quieter, and you will want a car.
What to check before you book
- The kitchen. The nearest full supermarket is about fifteen minutes away in Sines, so being able to cook what you bring back matters more here than in a town.
- A washing machine, if you are walking the Fishermen's Trail and need clean kit between stages.
- How many it really sleeps, in bedrooms rather than sofa beds.
- Who you book with and who you pay: a company, a platform or a private person.
- The dates. July and August fill months ahead.

Blue Cove is apartment 16.202 in Pestana Porto Covo Village: three bedrooms for 6, with a private pool on the terrace that is heated, because the owners fitted a heater. They also styled it with premium materials and top-quality appliances, put in a washer and dryer, and added routers so the Wi-Fi reaches every room.
